The Sinnecker Kunz Award for early career researchers (ECRs) will be presented during the 13th International Symposium on Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases (ISTTBD-XIII) in 2019. The aim of the award is to acknowledge distinguished achievements by ECRs.
The award is named in honour of the late virologist Professor Herbert Sinnecker, who was the first to find tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus in Germany and the virologist Christian Kunz, who developed the first European TBE vaccine.
This is the fourth time that the award will be presented.
Eligible persons for the award are ECRs who are currently performing postgraduate studies, or have recently (after March 2017) obtained a MSc or PhD degree in the field of ticks and tick-borne diseases (not restricted to TBE research only!). The application process for the Sinnecker Kunz award is now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered.
Successful applicants may present their research during the Sinnecker-Kunz session, which will be part of the regular conference program. A jury of scientists will appraise all presentations and the three awards 1st – 500 EUR, 2nd – 300 EUR & 3rd – 200 EUR will be presented during the closing ceremony.
We encourage ECRs to apply for the awards and are looking forward to receiving your entries!
